What happens after a failed payment
What a failed charge actually changes, how the grace period works, and how to get your account back to normal.
A single failed charge does not interrupt anything. Your account moves to a past-due status, and if the very next payment attempt succeeds, you're back to normal immediately — nothing about your plan or your data changes in between.
The grace period
If payment keeps failing, your account moves into a grace period (7 days by default). During grace, you keep full access — every feature and limit on your plan works exactly as before. Nothing is blocked and nothing is deleted during this window; the only thing that changes is that you'll see a notice asking you to update your payment method.
Updating your payment method is self-serve: Settings → Billing → Manage billing opens Stripe's secure payment page directly, no need to go through support just to fix a card on file.
Skuvelo will never delete, archive, or lock your data because of a payment problem. That's a firm rule, not a best effort — if you ever see a payment issue presented as your data being at risk, that's wrong, and worth telling us about.
If the grace period ends
If the grace period ends without a successful payment, your account drops to a read-only floor: you can still see your data, but the plan's paid features stop working until payment is resolved. As soon as a payment succeeds after that, your account is restored to its prior plan right away — there's no separate reactivation step or waiting period.
If something looks wrong
If you're having trouble updating a card, or the failures don't match what you're seeing on your end — for example, your bank shows no attempted charge — contact support rather than just retrying. Something may be wrong on our side, not yours.
