Managing your team and roles

The mechanics of inviting people, assigning a role, and reading the permission matrix.

Every person on your team holds exactly one of seven roles: Owner, Admin, Planner, Purchasing, Warehouse, Finance, or Read-only. See "Team roles and what each one can do" for what each role covers in detail. This guide is about the mechanics of inviting people and reading the permission matrix.

The Team & Roles page

Settings → Team & Roles shows the full member roster, any pending invitations, and the full permission matrix — computed from the same policy Skuvelo enforces on every request, so what the table says a role can do is what it can actually do, not a separate description that can drift from reality.

Inviting a teammate

Click + Invite teammate, enter their email, and pick one of the seven roles. New invitations default to Read-only, so nobody gets write access by accident if you're inviting quickly. The invitation expires after 7 days and can be revoked at any time before it's accepted.

Your teammate opens the link, confirms the email it was sent to, and sets a name and password — or leaves both blank to attach the workspace to an existing Skuvelo account if they already have one — then joins.

What a role sees

Every role sees the full workspace shell: every section of navigation stays visible regardless of role, because visibility and the ability to act are separate things in Skuvelo. What changes by role is which actions succeed. For example, Warehouse can receive shipments and manage inventory counts but cannot raise a purchase order; if a Warehouse teammate tries, Skuvelo tells them in plain language which roles can, rather than showing a bare error. Read-only can open every screen but cannot make a change anywhere in the product — a good fit for an accountant, an investor, or seasonal staff who need visibility without the ability to act.

Only Owner and Admin can manage the team itself: viewing the full roster, inviting people, changing a member's role, removing a member, and resending or revoking a pending invitation. Only an Owner can change or remove another Owner, and the last Owner can never be demoted or removed. If someone reports they can't do something you'd expect their role to allow, checking which role they're actually assigned is worth doing before troubleshooting further.
