See margin by SKU and channel

See what each item really earned on each channel after cost, marketplace fees and ad spend, with every figure traced to the order, settlement or ad report it came from.

Finance → Margin by SKU shows, for the period you choose, each item's revenue, cost of goods, marketplace fees, ad spend and margin on each channel. Open it from Finance or from an item's own page.

Margin is revenue minus cost of goods, minus fees, minus ad spend. Revenue, cost and fees are the same figures Finance shows for the period, split by item, so the channel rows always add up to Finance's totals.

Where each figure comes from

Choose an item's row to see its sources:

  • Revenue links to each order it counts, after returns.
  • Cost of goods is the cost posted when the order shipped, or the item's current unit cost where none was posted.
  • Fees read settled when the marketplace itemised them in a settlement for every item still due on the order, and link to that settlement. They read estimate when no settlement covers the whole order yet: an order that ships in two parts keeps its estimate until the second part is settled. The estimate is the channel's usual fee rate. Shopify payouts do not itemise fees per order, so Shopify fees are always an estimate. A fee the marketplace credits back on a refund is not taken off the fee here.
  • Ad spend links to the ad report you imported.

Importing ad spend

Owners, admins and finance members can import an ad report at the bottom of the page. Choose the channel and the kind of report, then the CSV file. The file needs a date column, a spend column, and a SKU, ASIN or campaign column. Write dates as 2026-09-05 or Sep 5, 2026; a date such as 05/09/2026 is refused, because it reads as different days in different countries.

Spend whose SKU or ASIN matches no item stays on its own line for the channel rather than being spread across items. To replace a report, remove it and import the corrected file.

Settlement journal for QuickBooks or Xero

Finance's settlement reconciliation card downloads every settlement as a journal: Journal CSV, QuickBooks or Journal CSV, Xero. Each settlement is one entry dated on its period end, numbered with the marketplace's own settlement id, and its debits equal its credits to the cent. A settlement with no marketplace id is numbered with its period end and a short code, such as 2026-09-14-6f1c2d3e, so two on the same day stay separate entries.

  • The payout posts to a clearing account named for the channel, such as "Acme Amazon US clearing". When the deposit arrives in your bank feed, match it against that account, so the money is not counted twice.
  • Sales, shipping charged to buyers, marketplace fees, fulfillment fees, refunds and advertising each post to their own account.
  • Tax the buyer paid, and tax the marketplace withheld to pay on your behalf, post to "Sales tax collected via marketplace", never to Sales.
  • If the marketplace paid a different amount from the lines it itemised, the difference posts to "Settlement variance".
  • The QuickBooks file has separate Debits and Credits columns. The Xero file has one Amount column, with debits positive, and a blank TaxRate column for you to set for your region.
  • The account names are Skuvelo's. Both imports let you map each name to an account in your own chart.

Skuvelo does not send these entries to QuickBooks or Xero for you. You import the file. A settlement whose lines are in more than one currency is left out, and the card names it.
