Setting up product variants
Turn one product into a family of options such as sizes, and see how variants are listed and when they can be deleted.
Variants turn one product into a family, such as a T-shirt in three sizes and two colours. Each variant is its own product with its own SKU, stock and price, grouped under the product you started from. Setting them up needs an owner, admin or planner.
Define the options
Open the product from Products and find the Variants card. Type an option name, such as Size, and its values separated by commas, such as S, M, L. Click Add option for a second option, such as Colour. A product can have up to four options and up to 200 combinations.
Generate the variants
Click Generate variants. Skuvelo creates one variant for every combination of values and lists each one in the Variants card with its SKU, barcode and price. A combination that already exists is skipped, so you can add a new value later and generate again without making duplicates.
How variants are listed
On the Products list, variants sit under their parent product rather than as separate rows. Expand the parent to see them. Searching or choosing a view lists every matching variant on its own.
Deleting a variant
A variant can be deleted like any other product. Skuvelo refuses to delete a parent product while any of its variants still holds stock, so the stock is never left without a product. Sell, move or adjust that stock to zero first, or archive the product instead.
