Guide

Create an item with its supplier terms

When you create an item, enter its supplier terms, link it to a listing that already has orders under its SKU, and get a first order recommendation before it has a history.

Open Products and choose New item. Besides the SKU, name, cost and price, the form takes what planning needs to buy the item.

Supplier terms

Pick an existing supplier or type a new one, then enter the supplier's unit cost and lead time in days. The order minimum is optional and is 1 when left blank.

When you pick a supplier that already supplies other items, the lead time and order minimum start at that supplier's usual figures:

  • the supplier's own planning lead time, when one is set on its page in Suppliers; otherwise
  • the middle value across the supplier's existing items.

A note under the fields says which. Change either number and your figure is used. If you type a lead time different from the supplier's planning lead time, this item keeps your figure even if the supplier's lead time changes later.

You need permission to create purchase orders to fill in this section.

A first recommendation before any sales

A new item has no sales history, so planning has nothing to buy against. Enter Expected sales per week and it is saved as a launch plan, the same as a forecast adjustment. The next planning run recommends a first order and an order-by date that use the lead time you entered. Change or remove the launch plan later from the item's forecast.

Link it to a listing that is already selling

When you finish typing the SKU, Skuvelo looks for Shopify, Amazon and other channel listings with the same SKU (ignoring capitals and spaces) whose sales are not attached to any item. Each one is offered under the SKU, ticked. Leave it ticked and new orders for that listing count toward this item. Sales already recorded are not moved onto the item, so they do not reduce the opening stock you enter.

Opening count check

If you enter opening stock lower than what a linked listing sold in the last 7 days, the form warns you before you save. It is a warning, not a block: check the count, then save.

Try the plan on your own stock.
